A 39-year-old villager of Lepanoni who is a suspect in the rape and murder case of the 14-year old-girl, is currently being investigated for allegedly raping another young girl last year.
The man appeared in court yesterday for allegedly raping his 16-year-old niece in Deuba two years ago.
Acting Chief of Investigations and Intelligence Luke Navela says Police came across the two cases of rape as they were conducting investigations regarding the recent rape and murder case.
He says there were no reports filed regarding these two cases and they only came to know about this when police started off the questioning process.
Navela confirms that the 39-year-old man remains in custody in relation to the investigation regarding the rape and murder of the 14-year-old girl who was found dead at the Deuba beach last Monday.
No charges have been laid in relation to the rape and murder of the 14-year-old girl.
