Chairman of the Constitutional Officers Commission Rishi Ram today clarified that a local was not appointed Supervisor of Elections as there were hardly any applications from locals.
His comments come after Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua's National Director, Peceli Kinivuwai asked authorities why a local could not take up the position.
However, Kinivuwai welcomed the appointment of Wellington based lawyer, Felicity Heffernan to the position of Supervisor of Elections and said they hoped this is the final appointment.
Meanwhile, Rishi Ram confirmed that Heffernan would take up her position from 1st July.
