Rakiraki will be declared a town this Thursday.
Chairman of the Ra Citizen Association Joji Satakala confirmed the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will be the chief guest and will declare Rakiraki which has a population of 29,137 a town and also be declared a crime free province.
Satakala said commitment has been done by the previous authority in proposing Rakiraki to become a town but it was shelved due to objection received by the decision makers.
Satakala said a submission was carried out by the present authority with the directive made by the Prime Minisiter on the 13th February this year that Rakiraki should be declared a town to bring about sustainable developments and prosperity to the people of Ra.
Meanwhile Satakala added all church denominations will come together to lift up the standard and pray together for the Ra province.
