The new declared Rakiraki Town will be looked after by an interim administration before the new administration is elected.

This is the message made by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama at the Declaration of the Rakiraki Town this week.

Commodore Bainimarama said this will see new opportunities open up in terms of social and economic developments.

He added because of its beautiful sites, it will attract more investors to start business and this also build confidence for those who are already in the business.

The Prime Minister also declared Ra as a crime free province.

Ra High Chiefs Tui Navitilevu Ratu Meli Bolobolo and Tui Nalawa Ratu Epeli Niudamu were amongst the 800 people present at the historical event.
