Yesterday's flash flooding in Rakiraki damaged much of the newly planted sugarcane and other vegetable farms.
Farmer Uma Nand from Barutu, five miles away from Rakiraki town, raised concern that many farmers in his area have lost their crops.
He has called on the Agriculture Ministry to look into their concerns as their farms are prone to flooding whenever there is a heavy downpour.
Meanwhile, many roads in Rakiraki that were closed have been opened to all traffic.
