Guilty.

That is the opinion of the three assessors in the human trafficking trial of Inoke Raikadroka and Mohammed Sagaitu.

Presiding judge, Justice Paul Madigan has remanded Raikadroka and Sagaitu in custody until he delivers his verdict at 10am Friday.

Raikadroka is charged with 7 counts of domestic trafficking in children and slavery while Sagaitu is charged with 2 counts of trafficking in children.

While summing up the case earlier today, Justice Madigan told the assessors that Raikadroka was the principal in this case and questions are to be asked whether he intended that the girls stay with him to earn money or were the girls free to keep the money they earned.

Judge Madigan said in this case, the accused creates a condition, he provides them with food, new shoes and also pays for the apartments through sex work.

He said in the charge of domestic trafficking, the law says the fact is that the girls are under 18 years is an element.

Meanwhile Raikadroka’s lawyer Seremaia Savou said in the charge of slavery, the girls agreed to work for Raikadroka.

Savou said Raikadroka got his commission and the girls kept their money from the sex trade.

Sagaitu’s lawyer, Romanu Vananalagi said his client was a Good Samaritan to the girls.

He said after they left their home, they met Raikadroka and Sagaitu.

He said the sisters would call Sagaitu to look for their clients.

The lawyer said the sisters were asking Sagaitu to arrange and provide transportation for sex work.
