A joint operation involving police, FIRCA and the Oceania Customs Organisation has led to the seizure of pornographic material and marijuana worth over $8000.
FIRCA's Acting CEO Jalal Ud Dean confirmed to Fijivillage that through Operation Drug Stop, two operations took place on sea and land where raids were carried out and the materials were seized.
Dean said it is only through such approaches will the nation effectively secure its borders and decrease, or even eliminate the movement of illicit drugs and other contraband across the border.
Operation Drug Stop was launched yesterday to mark International day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.
Meanwhile, police are now investigating the seizure of the pornographic material which is from overseas and the $8000 worth of marijuana.
