Manu Samoa’s radio and telethon has so far raised more than 300,000 US dollars towards the country’s Rugby World Cup campaign.

The event took place over the weekend in Samoa and American Samoa, with the territory contributing more than 50,000 towards the total.

The chairman of the Samoa Rugby Union’s World Cup Fundraising Committee Lefau Harry Schuster said the money helps to cover the costs of the team’s world cup build up.

He said it helps pay for the allowance that they pay their players and also they are bringing the Western Force to Apia to play Samoa and that will cost around about half a million Tala.

Harry Schuster said the rugby union is still aiming to reach it’s fundraising goal of two million US dollars and staff are continuing to collect unpaid pledges and further donations.

A dinner before the team heads to New Zealand will also raise more money.

Samoa will play Fiji in Auckland on September 25th in their Rugby World Cup pool match.

We are 30 days away from the kick off of the Rugby World Cup.

Fiji is pooled with South Africa, Wales, Namibia and Samoa.
