The process of phasing out race based school names recommended in the People's Charter is being dealt with.

These are the words of Education Minister Filipe Bole who said the Ministry is dealing with this and they're talking to the school authorities regarding the matter.

Under the People's Charter a recommendation was made to phase out school names that denote racial affiliation like "Fijian" and "Indian" and has been highlighted as of great importance in enhancing the building of a united and multicultural society.

Strategic Framework for Change Head, Filimoni Kau earlier said the onus to carry out the directive, as per the Charter, is on the Education Ministry and they are waiting for the necessary changes to be made.
