Defending champions of the NRL Auckland 9s tournament the South Sydney Rabbitohs started their campaign on a high after winning their first match.

The Rabbitohs beat the Roosters 14-13.

In another match, Semi Radradra and the Parramatta Eels handed the Sydney Roosters a second straight defeat at the NRL Auckland Nines today.

A last minute try to Parramatta young gun Bevan French following a penalty from the kick off broke the Roosters heart.

Fiji Bati wing Radradra also got his name on the score sheet with a typical long range run down the Eels' left wing.

The Eels won 14-11 with two other tries from French.

In the other results, Marika Koroibete and the Melbourne Storm thrashed the Eels 14-4 in the first round, Panthers defeated the Tigers 23-7, Sharks beat the Titans 23-12, the Sea Eagles edged the Broncos 11-8, the Cowboys beat the Knights 28-12 while the Rabbitohs beat the Roosters 14-13.
