The family of Nadi teenager Sakiusa Rabaka wants the soldiers implicated in his brutal killing to be tried in the criminal court instead of the court martial.
Rabaka's mother Alanieta Rabaka said murder is a serious offence and that the soldiers and a police officer implicated should face the full brunt of the law.
She said there is a lesser chance of the soldiers getting harsher sentences if they appear before a court marital panel.
The Sakiusa Rabaka file is still with the DPP's office and a decision is expected to be made soon.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigations Department is still awaiting the military legal unit's reply whether the soldier implicated in the Nimilote Verebasaga murder case will be tried in the criminal court or court martial.
