Organizers of New Zealand’s Rugby World Cup have admitted the event is likely to run at a loss of $35 million or more.

The Rugby World Cup runs over 45 days with games right across NZ.

But World Cup chief Martin Sneddon said it is money well spent.

He said NZ as a country is ready to have fun and have a party.

The event still needs to sell $22 million worth of tickets to reach its financial target.
