As the nation awaits the announcement of the 30 member FMF Flying Fijians 15s rugby team to the Rugby World Cup this evening, Village Sports has been reliably informed that the make up of the side will have 16 forwards and 14 backs.

The side will also be dominated by overseas based players with confirmation that head coach Ilivasi Tabua is eyeing 7 of those players that went to the Rugby World Cup in 2003 to be part of his team.

The players are Ifereimi Rawaqa, Kele Leawere, Alifereti Doviverata, Mosese Rauluni, Nicky Little, Seru Rabeni and Norman Ligairi.

The other two players who were also part of the 2003 campaign are Sisa Koyamaibole and Filimoni Delasau but they are facing tough competition from upcoming players who are also vying for spots in the team.

The side is likely to be captained by either Kele Leawere, Alifereti Doviverata or Mosese Rauluni who are the most experienced players in the team.

22 year old Waisea Luveniyali is likely to be the youngest member of the team as the backup player for Nicky Little at flyhalf.

Ilivasi Tabua
Meanwhile, the 15 member management team that went through the drug test has Ilivasi Tabua as the head coach with Joji Rinakama as the forwards coach and Iliesa Tanivula as the backline coach.

NSW Waratahs development coach Greg Mum will be the technical adviser in the forwards with Shane Frasier helping out Tanivula in the backline. The rest of the management team will have Pio Bosco Tikoisuva as the manager and will be assisted by Semi Rogoyawa.

Henry Elder is earmarked to be the trainer. High Performance Unit manager Peter Murphy will also travel with the team with a video analyst, a team doctor and a media officer.

The FMF Flying Fijians 15s rugby team will be announced at 6 o’clock tonight at the Lali Room in the Holiday Inn.
