Welsh hopes of building on their surprise victory at Rugby World Cup sevens 2009 in the next two legs of the IRB 7s World Series has been dealt a blow with only three members of that successful squad available to play in Hong Kong and Adelaide.

The world champion trio is Player of the Tournament Tal Selley, Rhys Webb and James Merriman, with others unavailable to coach Paul John because of commitments to their clubs and regions.

John has therefore drafted four uncapped players into his 12-man squad in Ifan Evans, Michael Collins, Jevon Groves and Tom Slater will travel to Hong Kong.

In Hong Kong, Wales are pooled with England, Japan and China.
