Leicester's Fijian International centre Seru Rabeni is facing an investigation from the Rugby Football Union, after appearing in a charity sevens event last weekend in Bath, while serving a suspension.

Rabeni was banned for 14 weeks from April 1st, after being found guilty of gouging Saracens hooker Andy Kyriacou on March 15th. The ban was set to expire on July 8th.

If found guilty of playing while banned, Rabeni faces an extension of his ban and given the severity of the initial offence, there could be a lengthy sentence imposed.

RFU in a statement said there discipline department is aware that Seru Rabeni of Leicester Tigers, is alleged to have played in the Bath Charity Sevens on June 28th in contravention of his 14-week suspension.

The RFU disciplinary offer, His Honour Judge Jeff Blackett, is investigating the matter and the appropriate action will be taken.
