The Reserve Bank of Fiji this afternoon launched the E-Money Fiji project which is money that can be transferred electronically from one person to another, one company to another, person to company or government to company via a mobile phone.

While launching this service, RBF Governor Sada Reddy said that mobile phones will be used as a means of transferring or receiving money.

Reddy said they have been working on the introduction of mobile money services since last year where a task force was set up to look at ways in which it can benefit the customers.

He added these services will benefit the rural people a lot.
