The Reserve Bank of Fiji has today confirmed that the $20 banknotes with the serial numbers EB 450 001 to EB 500 000 which was presumed to be stolen, are legal tender and should be accepted as normal circulation legal tender notes.

RBF Governor, Sada Reddy said the general public should not have any hesitancy in accepting any legal tender $20 notes including the $20 notes with the EB serial number.

Reddy said the commercial banks, foreign exchange dealers and business houses are advised to accept these notes without question and provide value to customers as they are legal tender.

Meanwhile Reddy confirmed that the RBF had reported to the Police that one million dollars in $20 Fiji banknotes was presumed to be stolen during consignment delivery to Fiji.

The Governor assures the public that the RBF is working closely with the Police and is happy with the progress of their investigations which has now moved offshore.
