The Reserve Bank of Fiji has announced incentives to try and attract former Fiji citizens to come back and reside in the country.

The former residents holding permanent resident visas are now considered Fiji residents.

The Reserve Bank in line with the Interim government's introduction of a category for permanent resident status for former Fiji residents, their descendents and current spouses, have amended its definition of a Fiji resident to accommodate this change.

The Bank believes that this move will enhance the Interim governments’ intention of encouraging former Fijian residents to return and contribute to the economy and at the same time, minimize the brain drain of its citizens.
