The Flying Fijians spent a quiet “Fathers Day” at their camp in Ohope in New Zealand, relaxing to a feast from the fish they caught yesterday.
Sunia Koto was the chief cook while all the boys lent a hand in cooking lunch.
Flying Fijians assistant backs coach Shannon Fraser said that the boys have learnt more of team bonding and that they cannot rely on themselves to get things done, it's a team effort.
Yesterday, Primary School students of Ohope Beach School gave the Flying Fijians an emotional welcome to their school and put on a traditional Maori dance and waved small Fiji flags to show their support for Fiji.
The team is certainly having an effect on the townsfolk of Ohope and Whakatane with people in both towns greeting the players wherever they go.
The team leaves tomorrow morning for Tauranga where they will be based for the duration of the World Cup.
Fiji’s first game is against Namibia at 3:30pm next Saturday and you can catch a live commentary on our sister station Viti-FM.
The World Cup kicks off next Friday at 8:30pm between hosts New Zealand and Tonga.
