Quick action saves Namaka Paint Centre
According to the National Fire Authority they received a call at around 6.42pm, and upon arrival they found smoke coming out of the building and quick response prevented the spread of the fire.
The NFA said there were highly inflammable products inside the shop as there were two 44 gallon drums of paint thinner located where the fire is believed to have started.
Meanwhile the National Fire Authority has raised concern with the number of house fires over the long weekend and is calling on people to take quick action in case of a fire.
NFA's Manager Corporate Affairs, Mileta Ting said a fire that just started at the bottom flat of a double story house in Delainavesi in Lami was contained, due to a quick call made by a neighbour, and preliminary investigation shows that the fire was arson as a result of a burglary and police are now investigating.
Ting said they are pleased that same quick thinking prevented another house fire at Herrick Place in Suva.
