Quick action by officers from the Ready Action Force led to the arrest of five men who allegedly robbed a family in Lomaivuna, Naitasiri, yesterday afternoon.

Assistant spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed that five men from Kinoya, Nasinu, went up to Lomaivuna and allegedly tied up seven members of the family before ransacking the house.

They stole cash and items worth more than $29,000 before fleeing in the victim's family vehicle.

According to Sokomuri, as soon as police were informed, officers were dispatched and they gave chase.

The robbers fled, however, they lost control of the vehicle and as a result the vehicle went off the road and into a ditch.

They were arrested on the scene and police also managed to recover some of the loot.

Charges are expected to be laid soon.
