Quick action by the National Fire Authority averted a major disaster at the Labasa Hospital this morning.

The NFA confirmed they received a call at around five o'clock this morning and when the fire fighters arrived at the scene they found a small office on fire.

Fire fighters used a dry powder fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the hospital.

Divisional Fire Officer, John Pillay said early alert can enable them to stop a fire from destroying a building.
