Quick thinking by a passing motorist averted what could have turned into a potentially major disaster after the bulk store of Bombay Trading in Lautoka caught fire at round 2 o'clock this morning.
Chief Fire Officer Mark Reid said their NFO Lautoka crew arrived minutes after being informed by the motorist which helped save the building from being burnt down.
Reid confirmed that the bulk store is old and does not meet the National Building Code of Fiji.
Abour 30 percent of the contents inside the store was damaged in the fire and estimated costs are being worked out.
