Quick action by Nasinu police yesterday led to the arrest of one man who was allegedly involved in robbing a taxi driver in Makoi, Nasinu yesterday.

Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri said three youths broke into the taxi while the driver was parked outside his compound and was in the process of opening his gate. The men got away with some cash and taxi meter worth $500.

Neighbour saw the youths and reported the matter. Police responded and arrested a 24 year old man while other two escaped.

Meanwhile, in other incident police arrested a 21 year old mechanic who was caught red handed trying to drive away with another person's car in Suva yesterday.

The owner of the car parked his vehicle outside Ro Lalabalavu House yesterday morning and went into the building when the mechanic broke into the car and drove it away for a few meters when the owner came back. The man stopped the car near another building where some bystanders caught him.

The mechanic had been charged with unlawful use of motor vehicle and is expected to appear in the Suva Magistrates court on Monday.
