Quick action by the fire authorities saved the Metrological office in Vatuwaqa this afternoon from being completely destroyed.
Works Ministry Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete confirmed that the fire started around 3pm this afternoon.
Waqainabete said part of the building which was engulfed in fire was a newly refurbished area.
There are no reports of anyone being hurt.
