The members of the Fiji Posts and Telecommunication Employees Association have raised questions on the appointment of an expatriate as the company's new Chief Executive Officer.
Telecom Fiji recently appointed Rohan Mail to replace Sakeasi Seru who acted in the top position for 18 months and took the company through major reforms during this period.
General Secretary, Attar Singh in a statement said for the company to appoint an expatriate now obviously on high salary and perks, at the end of the restructuring exercise just does not make sense.
Singh said the workers believe the company could have well been led by one of the several long serving and qualified locals from within the organization including Seru.
The Union has sought a meeting with the Chairman, Tom Ricketts.
The former CEO Seru replaced Taito Tabaleka who now holds a senior position at Telecom PNG.
Meanwhile Ricketts when contacted today said he is willing to meet with the Union but they should follow the proper procedures.
