Petero Civoniceva finished off his 33rd and last State of Origin game on a high after his Queensland side beat New South Wales 21-20 last night.

The tireless forward gained a total of 97 metres and made 20 tackles in the game.

New South Wales took the early lead 8-0 but it was Queensland that came back and led 16-8 at half time.

Both sides were locked 20 all with 10 minutes remaining but it was Cooper Cronk’s 40-metre field-goal in the 75th minute which broke New South Wales hearts and sealed a 21-20 win for Queensland.

Queensland has now won the series for the seventh straight year.

This is the first time since 1999 that all three matches in an Origin series have been decided by single figures.
