Queens Counsel to represent Takiveikata during retrial
Filimoni Vosarogo who will also represent Takiveikata during the trial told High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Gounder that Takiveikata has appointed him as his Solicitor late yesterday afternoon after which they contacted QC Peter Maiden who will arrive into the country on Sunday.
Vosarogo said he will email QC Maiden the disclosures and other necessary documents and assured the trial Judge that they will be ready for the trial once he arrives into the country.
Meanwhile, Legal Aid Commission Director Sunil Sharma told the court that Ratu Inoke Takiveikata refused to seek the assistance of Legal Aid.
Sharma said he met with Takiveikata in his office yesterday afternoon to assist him prepare for the trial, however the Naitasiri High Chief declined to seek their assistance.
The trial proper will start on Monday at 11.30am.
