A quarantine area has been set up at the University of the South Pacific in light of H1N1.

This will house those residential on-campus students that have H1N1 or are suspected cases of H1N1, and will be monitored by the University doctors while being provided with meals.

Weekly e-mail updates from the Ministry of Health are being circulated to staff and students, while lecturers and tutors are requested to brief students in class on the importance of following simple precautions.

Regional students had been advised to visit a doctor before travelling.

The University plans to hold more information sessions for staff and students on H1N1.

To date a total of 97 cases has been recorded.
