The Quarantine Department is monitoring some shops in the Southern and Western Division who are allegedly selling items which are imported illegally.
Principle Bio-Security Officer, Ilaitia Bola said his officers are visiting shops and checking items that they believe have been brought into the country illegally.
Meanwhile, Quarantine Officers confiscated products from two shops in Suva on Tuesday which is believed to have been imported illegally.
The two shops which are operated by Asian nationals were under surveillance for some time. Items that were confiscated include corned pork, Noodles, Eggs, Chicken and some other products.
According to Boa, the owners of these two supermarkets will now be prosecuted by police.
