The Quarantine Department is still unsure of how many traders are involved in the illegal importing and selling of items in the country.
Director Hiangi Foraete said he is yet to receive any confirmation however only some shops in Suva were found to be selling illegal items.
He adds that there may be one or many businessmen in this illegal trade and steps are being taken to identify them.
Quarantine officials have now started checking shops and supermarkets in the Western Division.
A number of businesses allegedly illegally brought food items from China and the matter has been referred to police for investigations.
