The officials of the Quarantine Department have now started checking shops and supermarkets in the Western Division to find out whether they are selling items brought in the country illegally.
Director Hiangi Foraete said he is yet to receive any reports however only some shops in Suva were found to be selling illegal items.
A number of businesses allegedly illegally brought food items from China which has been referred to police for investigations.
