The Quarantine Department has today revealed that they are waiting for a response from the Police Department, before they carry on with any raids or prosecution of businesses found selling illegally imported food items.
Director Hiagi Foraete said that they are currently in the process of finalizing specifics into a list of banned and illegal items but are yet to meet with Police, as they are facing difficulties in implicating these businessmen.
However, Police spokesman Atu Sokomuri said at the moment they have not been able to finalize talks of prosecuting or raiding shops, adding that it is only when the Quarantine officials started to see the fruitless attempts to penalize shop owners selling illegal items, when they turned to the Police Force.
