The Quarantine Department is not properly equipped to address the issue of illegal parcels and substances entering the country.
Hiagi Foraete, Director Qauarantine, said at the moment they only have two x-ray machines at the Nadi International Airport as well manual checks.
Last week, a 46-year-old Mexican national was sentenced to eight years imprisonment for bringing cocaine into the country.
Foraete said that their website has been updated and this includes a whole list of things that are both legal and illegal but added that many, especially tourists are not taking advantage of it.
Meanwhile, FIRCA Chief Executive, Jitoko Tikolevu said at the moment Fiji does not have equipment to detect hard drugs like cocaine coming into the country.
Tikolevu has confirmed that everything is done manually at the Airport and major port of entries around Fiji but at the moment plans are underway to bring the detecting machines from overseas.
