120 teachers are to become qualified Secondary teachers but they will have to go through a Secondary Teacher Training Course starting next Monday.

The Education Ministry stated that these teachers who hold tertiary qualifications are already teaching in the classroom.

However, they are yet to undergo training in the teaching and learning process.

The training is part of the Ministry's strategy to ensure that teachers who were recruited to replace retirees, are trained to become qualified teachers.

All together five subject combinations will be offered and teachers are expected to enroll in their respective subjects, namely Math and Physics, Bio and Chemistry, Accounting and Economics, English, History, Geography and Social Science.

The training will run throughout this holiday period and will continue during the school break in 2010.

Teachers are to graduate at the end of 2010.
