Former Flying Fijian Jone Qovu has been suspended by the French Rugby Federation during this month’s international window.

This comes after the Fiji rugby Union made a formal complaint to their French counterparts over Qovu's withdrawal from the Europe tour squad due to "injury" to stay with his club.

Qovu's club Racing Metro were punished for their apparent refusal to comply with International Rugby Board regulations which say clubs must release players for designated international matches.

Qovu has said he would be unable to join up with the Flying Fijians as he was injured, but then played for his club against Perpignan in their Top 14 clash on October 27.

Meanwhile Fiji will meet Gloucester this Wednesday at 8:45am in their second match.
