Flying Fijians flanker Akapusi Qera has signed a new two year contract with the Kingsholm club Gloucester.

The openside joined the Guinness Premiership side from Pertemps Bees following his outstanding display for Fiji at the 2007 World Cup in France, helping them reach the quarterfinals at the expense of Wales.

The 25 year old carried that form into his first year with the Cherry and Whites but a serious knee injury limited him to just six appearances last season.

He has been in good form during the current campaign despite Gloucester's struggles the club is currently 9th.

Gloucester Head Coach Bryan Redpath said Qera brings real dynamism to his back row and he's still keen to learn and develop his game.
