Water from the Qauia river is now entering some homes after the river burst its banks due to heavy rain this morning.
Resident Apisalome Moce told Fijivillage news that people living along the river bank are moving to higher ground in the village and several people are stranded on either side of the Qauia bridge which is under water.
Villagers of Naimasimasi village in Tailevu are moving back to their house after flood waters entered 5 homes this morning.
Naimasimasi villager Mereseini said it's low tide now and they have move back to their house.
The Naqali bridge is now under 2 meters of flood waters and people residing across the river are being urged not to cross the flooded river.
Public Works Department Spokespersn, Sainiana Waqainabete confirms Government officials are now on their way to affected areas near the bridge to help the affected people.
Meanwhile, three cases of landslides have been reported between Nausori and Korovou and motorists are urged to take extra precaution while using the road.
Heavy rain and poor drainage has led to flooding in the Wailoku flats. Resident Karun Datt said the roads in the area are now flooded.
Flood waters have also entered a house in Wailoku and a resident Matthew Chand said that the occupants are now moving their belongings out of the house.
The National DISMAC Centre is monitoring the current situation in the Central Division and Principal DISMAC Officer, Patiliai Dobui said people living around the banks of the Navua and Rewa rivers to take precaution.
Continuous heavy rain overnight has also led to flooding of some roads in the Navua area.
Police confirm that Naitonitoni and Tokotoko back road are under one feet of flood waters while the Raiwaqa bridge in Navua is also flooded but the roads are still open to traffic.
Meanwhile, Nadi Weather Office Director Rajendra Prasad said a weak trough of low pressure has moved over the group and the current weather is not due to Tropical Cyclone Hettie which is moving away from Fiji.
Prasad said heavy rain is expected in the Central and Southern parts of the country and people living in low lying and flood prone areas should take precautions.
