A 20-year-old record has been equalled by a Lautoka district athlete into the second day of the FMF Chow Primary Schools Athletics finals at the National Stadium.
Kolova Qativi equalled the record in the Under 13 Girls High Jump. Qativi had a jump of 1.42 metres while the old record in 1988 was set by Titilia Qele of Nadroga district.
Qativi who is from Drasa Primary was delighted with her win and said Lautoka will pose a threat to reigning champions Suva this afternoon in other events.
Meanwhile, the field events so far have been dominated by the Western and Northern districts while Suva is yet to get a medal on the second day.
Now looking at the unofficial medal tally so far: Suva leads the boys division with 9 gold, 9 silver and 1 bronze. Lautoka is in second place with 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze while Taveuni/Qamea combined are in third place with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. In the Girls division Suva also leads with 7 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.
