Outgoing Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption Chief Investigator Nazir Ali has revealed that ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase is now under investigation in relation to certain corruption allegations.
Ali said they are driven by the evidence that will be gathered before taking any further steps.
However, Laisenia Qarase maintains that FICAC has no powers to investigate him.
ASP Marika Taufa will soon take over as the Chief Investigator of FICAC while SP Ali moves to the Fiji Police Force to assist new Police Commissioner Captain Teleni in cleaning up the force.
