Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase said the Interim Prime Minister should have expected the sanctions placed on Fiji after the December 5th takeover.

Qarase believes that we may have tougher sanctions if Fiji does not give a clear time frame for elections.

However Commodore Frank Bainimarama stresses that the interim government will only decide when to have the next elections when it fulfills President, Ratu Josefa Iloilo's mandate.

Commodore Bainimarama said Fiji cannot have elections by March 2009 if everyone in the country does not cooperate in moving Fiji forward. He said the changes that have to be made will have to be implemented first before elections are held.
