Former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka believes that the interest of the indigenous Fijian will be better look after under the department for Indigenous Affairs.

According to Rabuka ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase is misleading the Fijian people by making such comments that the move by the interim government is an attempt to diminish the role and the functions of the Fijian institutions.

Rabuka said that the rights of the Fijian people are well protected under the constituion and it is not a sign of disrespect to the Fijian community as Qarase claims.

However, Qarase maintains that alot of Fijians are still unaware of the changes as they should have been consulted.
