Police have confirmed that they are still investigating Former Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase.
Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni saod Qarase is being investigated for allegedly asking for foreign intervention from the Australian and New Zealand (NZ) Prime Ministers in December 2006.
Commodore Teleni said they are also carrying out consultations with the DPP's office.
There were reports that Qarase had asked NZ Prime Minister Helen Clark, former Australian Prime Minister, John Howard and former Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer for foreign intervention just a few days before the December 5th takeover and on December 5th 2006.
Police had earlier highlighted that under section 51 of the Penal Code, any person who instigates any foreigner to invade Fiji with an armed force is guilty of treason.
According to the Penal Code that if the person is found guilty, he shall be sentenced to death.
