The two cases of alleged corruption and abuse of office against former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase has been transferred to the High Court after a request by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.

FICAC Prosecutor Paul Madigan had made an application for the two cases against Qarase to be transferred and Magistrate Amani Rokotinaviti, after considering the submissions, agreed to have the case moved to the High Court.

The matter has been adjourned to March 5th for mention.

Qarase was last year charged with separate counts of abuse of office and officer charged with administration of property of a special character in relation to the extinct Mataqali funds and share dealings in the Fiji Holdings Limited.
