The trial regarding the Qaranivalu, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata being charged with the 2nd November, 2000 attempted mutiny at the Queens Elizabeth Barracks was this morning called before High court judge, Justice Daniel Gounder after it was declared a mistrial last Friday.

The case was declared a mistrial on Friday after the lawyer for the Qaranivalu, Filimoni Vosarogo informed the High Court that one of the assessors was a former territorial force soldier.

Last Friday, Judge Gounder ruled that a new trial is to start today with the two remaining assessors to be retained, and the registry will look for another three assessors.

This morning, Judge Gounder told the two counsels that witnesses who had taken the stand in the last trial, had to be called back so that the assessors have the privilege to hear the evidences of the witnesses.

Justice Gounder this morning also decided that the trial was expected to end by the 4th of next month as he had another trial to attend to.

The case will be recalled tomorrow at 10am for mention.
