Qantas has swallowed its pride and followed through on a bet after engaging in a friendly wager with Air New Zealand ahead of the Rugby World Cup grand final.

Staff ‑ including two pilots ‑ on a flight from Sydney to Auckland this afternoon are all wearing sporting All Blacks gear following the Wallabies loss yesterday.

The airlines had agreed that if their respective teams won, the crew of the other airline would have to wear the victorious team’s jerseys for a day.

Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will also eat humble pie after a bet with Prime Minister John Key.

As leader of the losing country, Turnbull will wear a black tie during parliamentary question time.
