Queen Victoria School is determined to do well at the Coca‑Cola Games next week.
Athletes train together every afternoon at the John Wesley College grounds although most of them travel long distances from the schools they now attend.
QVS athletes who are based in the West train at the Natabua School grounds.
Students were directed to the schools closest to their homes after QVS was damaged by Cyclone Winston.
They will be counting on their star athletes such as shot put and discus duo, Henry Spring and Josua Serukilagi as well as Blue Ribbon hopeful, Ilaitia Waqa.
Spring broke the Sub‑Junior Boys Shot Put record last year with a throw of 12.95 metres while Serukilagi made a record throw of 49.35 metres in the Intermediate Boys Discus event.
Henry Spring is aiming to break the Junior Boys Shot Put record at next week’s Coca‑Cola Games.
Another QVS athlete to look out for will be Kolinio Radrudru who set a new record of 11.59 seconds in the Sub‑Junior Boys 100 metres event last year.
Queen Victoria School finished second in the Boys division last year with 9 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze.
The Coca‑Cola Games will be held from next Thursday to Saturday at the ANZ Stadium.
