Accept that the electoral system needs to change and the People's Charter is the way forward.
That's the clear message to the 18 political party representatives from Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama in the second political forum currently underway at the parliament complex.
Bainimarama has told political leaders who vigorously discredit the People's Charter to put all of the negativity behind them and realize that majority of the people support the Charter.
He said there is an overwhelming strong support of the Charter and it would be ill advised for political leaders to turn a blind eye to such an expression of the broad based collective will of the people of Fiji.
He said the vision of the People's Charter is one nation, equal citizenship and rights and under a leadership that values good governance, transparency and accountability.
He said after conversations with people all over the country during the last two years, the people of Fiji want a change.
The Interim Prime Minister also told political leaders that it is crucial that they agree on a new electoral system, that is not race based, that is unifying, that will make politicians develop genuine national policies that will make politicians more accountable and that will give Fiji citizens the right to choose their representatives without communal restrictions.
