The dengue outbreak has already claimed the lives of eight people and Health Authorities have advised people not to wait too long to be seen by a doctor.

Director of Epidem-iology, Dr. Devika Nand said the outbreak has spared no one and out of the eight deaths relating to dengue the oldest person was more than 70 years old and the youngest was a two month old baby.

She has also urged parents to look after their children.

Meanwhile, people have also been advised to avoid Ibuprofen and Aspirin.

One of the symptoms of dengue fever is body pain and according to Divisional Medical Officer Eastern, Dr. Eliki Nanovo, people tend to take pain killers such as Indomethacin and Ibuprofen.

However, Dr Nanovo stresses when people suspect they have dengue they should avoid these painkillers.

According to Dr. Nanovo, people should only take Paracetamol with plenty of water which can help in the fever.

He added that the painkillers have side effects and can cause bleeding.
