The public is now being urged to be aware of a group of people who are targeting garage sales on the pretext of being interested in buying items however would walk away with precious belongings.
A family of four living in Tamavua, just off Princes Road were one of the victims who had a garage sale on Saturday and later discovered that some of their belongings were missing.
Resident Rusum said they had a garage sale and a group of people came to their house and showed interest in some of the items they had on sale however when they left, she realized that their money, a mobile phone and a laptop were also missing.
She said the group was with them for about half an hour.
She also said that the incident left them traumatized so they spent the night in Nausori at her in-laws place.
Rusum added that a similar incident happened at another house about 2 kilometers from her residence.
